Enter the state of ihram at or before the Miqat.
Make your intention (niyyah) for Umrah, wear the ihram garments (men: two white unstitched cloths; women: normal modest dress), and avoid the prohibitions of ihram (no perfume, no cutting hair/nails, etc.). Begin reciting the Talbiyah.
Recite the Talbiyah often on the way to Makkah.
Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayka laa shareeka laka labbayk. Innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, laa shareeka lak. β βHere I am, O Allah, here I am. You have no partner, here I am. All praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty. You have no partner.β
Perform seven circuits around the Ka'bah.
Begin at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad), keeping the Ka'bah on your left. Complete seven full circuits, making du'a in your own words throughout. After Tawaf, pray two rak'ah behind Maqam Ibrahim if possible, then drink Zamzam water.
Walk seven times between Safa and Marwah.
Go to Mount Safa, face the Ka'bah and make du'a, then walk to Marwah β that is one lap. Continue until you complete seven, ending at Marwah. Men lightly jog between the green markers; women walk normally.
Shave or trim the hair to exit ihram.
Men either shave the head completely (halq β greater reward) or trim it evenly (taqsir). Women cut a fingertip-length from the ends of their hair. With this, your Umrah is complete and the ihram restrictions are lifted.
